I was someone just like you looking for the right answers to my health.
Working in the medical field as a nurse, I always had a gut-feeling that there must be more to health than just pills & surgery. I began researching alternative therapies to chronic illnesses & diseases. What I found was the beautiful world of holistic care, functional medicine, and health coaching!
people who are passionate for health & wellness and continue searching for more to the answer of HEALTH. People who don’t stop at a diagnosis, but continue pushing through to the root cause!
The beginning of my health journey started when I turned 18 years old and fell very ill to e.coli. I was hospitalized for 2 weeks and came very close to death. Being hospitalized, watching the healthcare team work together, and experiencing the amazing care of nurses made me want to become a nurse. A year later I attended Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas to get my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Now I can happily say that I’ve worked as a nurse for five years! Though being hospitalized with e.coli was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life, if it hadn’t happened I don’t think I would be where I am today and doing what I do!
Nursing jumpstarted my journey to studying health & wellness. As I learned more about the medical field, I also studied & researched more about the natural world. I found that the medical field wanted to manage people’s chronic illnesses instead of treat the person. They wanted to give a pill for every symptom, instead of search for the root cause of the symptom. I grew sad over time handing out pills to my patients when I knew education and lifestyle changes were what they needed. This lead me to push on further into more preventative care and turned me on to health coaching!
I graduated from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition June 2020 and I haven’t looked back!
